Church Security

CHURCH SECURITY

Workshop Description

Churches represent a unique crime prevention challenge for both security professionals and church leaders. Because of their unique nature and mission, churches are open and trusting environments. Once victimized, a standard response is, 'Who would steal from God?' Regrettably, the answer is that there are many people who would.

The unfortunate reality is that criminals do not respect the sanctuary and are only looking for easy targets.  Frequently our churches are often easy targets of property crime, crimes against persons, financial fraud, vandalism, arson and hate crimes.

Crime Prevention Training Concepts’ House of Worship Crime Prevention Workshop will provide practical and economical solutions and strategies to reduce your church’s potential vulnerability to crime.

The focus of this seminar is the identification of risks and threats that exist in church environments and how to prevent those vulnerabilities from occurring.

Workshop Details

The workshop begins with an eye opening summarization of why churches need protecting.  Participants in the workshop will also explore the internal and external security risks associated with houses of worship. Each unique risk factor represents a distinct vulnerability that must be mitigated while maintaining a balance between the mission of the church and protecting the church and congregation.

The workshop will demonstrate how to protect the physical assets of the church by the use of a proactive church security survey and the development of cost effective security awareness policies and procedures.  Elements of instruction will include the use and application of cost effective mitigation strategies such as closed-circuit television, intrusion detection systems, and access control systems, including key control.

The workshop will also focus upon the protection of the church's financial assets. The risk factors of cash management, robbery prevention, theft, fraud, and embezzlement will be discussed and strategies to avoid victimization offered.

The workshop conclusion shifts from potential criminal threats to the development of proactive strategies that churches can implement to protect themselves from criminal occurrences. These strategies involve the development of a church security ministry.

When participants return to their respective churches, they will be able to take the knowledge that they gained in the workshop and immediately apply it to their own church environments.
